BUDDING ARCHAELOGISTS

Year 3 have gone back to explore ancient times

This term the Year Three children have been learning about the Saxon times and what a lot they have found out!

They became great archaeologists like Basil Brown who unearthed the fascinating treasures at Sutton Hoo, and made their own Saxon styled artefacts including swords, brooches and shoulder clasps.

Everyone made a copy of the helmet that was found which we think belonged to the great Saxon King, Raedwaeld.

The children also wrote runes to make Saxon spells, found out about village life, including the fruit and vegetables eaten and how to make medicine from herbs.

Look at the fabulous museum pieces they made – they rival the real display at the British Museum!
