Both the Junior School and Senior School netball teams have been playing some great netball this term, showing great resilience in the face of bad weather and tough teams.
The final U11 Netball fixtures of the year were jubilant celebrations with a lot of improvement on display following all their hard work. The girls battled through windy conditions in matches against Ditcham Park School with tenacity and perseverance.
The girls have reflected on developing new skills and tactics and have beaten bad habits to become smarter and more considerate with their movement.
All the Junior School pupils have shown great teamwork during fixtures and in games lessons this term which has been a credit to them all.
In the Senior School the U12 and U13 girls have had the opportunity to represent the school each Saturday, which they have all done with great enthusiasm. The U14 have been particularly impressive this term, showing a great deal of dedication to Netball – this was never more evident than when they faced a Millfield School team nearly a year older than them in the ISNC Cup.
Our Senior girls’ sides have also worked hard all term, with the first VII reaching the ISNC Plate Quarter Finals.
The annual PGS Sport U18 South Coast Sevens took place at Hilsea Playing Fields on Sunday 2nd February.
The tournament saw 16 top rugby schools from across the country come together for what was an exceptional day of school boy sport. This was, and continues to be, one of the only Sevens competitions to escape the various storms of this term, alongside the Ryde Sevens, which saw two PGS teams meet in the final.
Heavy rain on the night before the tournament meant a lot of work for the ground staff to ensure the pitches were playable. The day itself was reasonably dry as the 192 school boys took to the pitches. Across the day the tournament filtered in to four separate competitions, each finishing with a final. This year the winners were: Bowl - Bryanston School Shield – Brighton College Plate - Canford School Cup – Whitchurch High School
Thank you to Mr D Lyons for this exceptionally well organised and run event, the groundsman and the catering team.
