96 children from 13 local schools attended Bright Sparks 2020 in November.

Half of the children had come to challenge themselves in the Year 2 workshops and half were eager to engage with the Year 4 activities. The theme this year was ‘Explorers’ and after the pupils were welcomed with a drink and cookie they set out on their explorations, and got down to business with workshops in English, Mathematics and Science.

The activities were led by a combination of PGJS teachers and visiting specialists with the pupils having the opportunity to work on iPads to program ‘Spheros’ to explore the Junior School Hall, make binoculars after they had decoded the instructions and finding hidden treasure using grid references.

The children were all thoroughly engaged with their explorations and they were lit up with interest and enthusiasm for their work. There was the sound of laughter and highly challenging questions and ideas were heard being excitedly shared. It was a wonderful experience for everybody involved.

One quote from a visiting pupil summed up the day: ”This has been the best day of my life.”
