The Pupils Uganda Group hosted an 80s disco this term to raise funds for our partners in learning, Kikaaya College School. Year 9 pupil, Rafe Crane Robinson, reports on the evening.

It was a fabulous event to support our partner school in Uganda, Kikaaya College School. To start off the evening we watched a few videos of students at Kikaaya grooving to 80s music and boy can they dance! Later on, live bands and soloists including the superb Year 11 Rock band and the fantastic Rex Binnings gave performances of their favourite 80s tracks and all the performers did an incredible job.

There were multiple stalls including a photo booth, a mocktail bar and a selection of light snacks were available. Everyone turned up in fancy dress and I am glad to congratulate Olivia Hancock, who won the competition for her stunning costume.

We raised over £380 for Kikaaya and this money is going to be used to improve and sustain their Wi-Fi connection so they can use online resources to continue their learning and help us achieve our goal of becoming effective ‘Partners in Learning’ through the use of live video conferencing and other techniques. This will enable a depth of learning, beneficial to both schools, previously impossible. It really was a night to remember and I hope everyone enjoyed the evening. I look forward to seeing more of you next year!
